FAQ

Here are answers to common questions that you may have about our website:

I'm new to The Lever. How do I subscribe?

Good question! Click here to learn about our subscription options.

I'm a subscriber. How do I log in?

Go to the website www.levernews.com. Click on the “Sign In” button on the top right. Alternately, you can click here. You will be asked to input your email address. After doing so, you will receive an email with a link that allows you to log in. Once signed in, your browser will remember that you are logged in for a long time.

As a subscriber, how do I access my subscriber account?

Once you have clicked here to log in, you can access your account information at any time. Click on the person icon/your avatar on the top right. You can also click here. Any of these options will bring up your account information, which includes details about your account settings, your subscription plan, and whether you are subscribed to our newsletter (meaning you want to receive our posts as emails in your inbox, along with reading them on our website).

How do I change my existing subscription plan?

On your account information page under “Plan,” you can click “Change” to modify your subscription plan from free to paid, change your billing from monthly to annual, or cancel your subscription. On your account information page under “Email newsletter,” you can add or remove yourself from the newsletter email list. Adding or removing yourself from the newsletter email list does not change your subscription status.

How do turn off automatic subscription renewal?

Monthly subscriptions automatically renew each month. Annual subscriptions automatically renew at the end of the one-year subscription period. Annual subscribers will receive an email notice about that renewal prior to the end of the subscription period. You can turn off automatic subscription renewal at any point by clicking here to access your account and then clicking “cancel subscription.” Don't worry; once you do so, your subscription benefits will still continue until the end of the subscription period.

How do I cancel my subscription?

To cancel your subscription, go to your account information page, click on “Change” under your plan information, and then select “Cancel subscription.”

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you unsubscribe from the email newsletter on your account information page, or click on the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of a Lever email, you will be removed from the newsletter email list, but this will not cancel your subscription. You must cancel your plan in the account information page.

I'm a paid subscriber, but when I log into my account at LeverNews.com it says it's a free account. What’s up?

Due to the nature of our system, it’s not uncommon for paid subscribers to accidentally sign up for a free account with a second email address.

If you are confident that you have an active paid subscription, but when you log in it says you are still free, please double-check your email addresses. If needed, feel free to email us at support@levernews.com, and we’ll help you resolve the issue.

How do I customize my email preferences?

You have full control over which and how many emails you receive from us each week. Simply by signing into our site and then going to your account page, you can click on the “Manage” button next to Newsletters. You will be taken to your email preferences page, where you will be able to select the kinds of posts you would like to receive from us in your inbox.

Does your site have RSS support?

Yes! Our main RSS feed is https://www.levernews.com/rss/. Alternatively, you can type our web address into popular RSS feed readers, such as Feedly.

How do I comment on a post?

While the general public and free subscribers can read comments, you must be a paid subscriber who is logged in to leave a comment or reply to others. The first time you leave a comment, you’ll be asked for a name. This will be your comment name moving forward, so choose carefully. Your comment name does not have to be your real name.

If you want to include an image with your comments, sign up for a free Gravatar account and select an image for your Gravatar profile. Then, if you have already logged into our site, click "Sign out" on your account page, and then log back in (you will be sent a new login link via email).

What is your comment policy?

We welcome comments — supportive, critical, or otherwise — from supporting subscribers. We do not censor or delete comments except if they contain hateful or abusive content, personal attacks, spam, off-topic statements, or unrelated links. As a general rule of thumb, we ask that you don’t be an asshole. Those who repeatedly violate this policy will be blocked from commenting.

How can I add or change my profile image in the comments section?

Paid subscribers with commenting privileges can manage their comment-section profile images by creating an account or logging in to Gravatar. Once logged in, you can go to "My Gravatars" and add, change, or remove a profile image for any of your email addresses. As long as you use the same email address to add comments to our site, your profile image will reflect any changes you make in Gravatar.

Can I pitch you a story?

Of course! If you want to send us a story tip, click here. If you are a current or aspiring journalist and want to propose a story to write for us, click here to learn how to pitch us.

How do I give a gift subscription?

If you wish to give someone a gift subscription, please email us at support@levernews.com to make the request.

Can I donate to you beyond my current subscription rate?

So kind of you to ask! You can provide us additional support by donating via our digital tip jar.

I noticed a bug on the site or in an email. What should I do?

If you notice something that seems off or have any questions, please email us at support@levernews.com.

Do you have an advertising policy?

We remain a steadfastly independent and reader-supported news organization. PODCAST FAQs

How do I subscribe to your public podcast feeds?

To subscribe to our podcasts, click here and then select the specific podcast you wish to subscribe to. You will then find links to that show on major podcast players.

What’s up with the Apple Podcast Lever Premium Channel?

When you become a paid subscriber to The Lever directly at LeverNews.com, you will be provided access to our premium podcast feeds. You do not need to sign up for any further plan or platform to gain full access to premium episodes and bonus content. To learn more about setting up your access to premium podcasts in this instance, please refer to the entry under the FAQ on this page titled “How does a paying subscriber get full access to premium podcasts, including Master Plan?”

We also offer a podcast-only subscription directly through Apple Podcasts. Within Apple Podcasts, iPhone users can choose to subscribe to premium content exclusively within the Apple Podcasts application for $2.99 per month. Doing this only provides access to premium podcast content, not all premium content from The Lever. If you have signed up for the plan in Apple Podcasts but wish to gain full access to The Lever beyond podcasts, please email us at support@levnerews.com, and we’ll help you out.

How does a paying subscriber get full access to premium podcasts, including Master Plan?

If you have subscribed to LeverNews.com, you should have received an email titled “ACTION REQUIRED: Activate Your Premium Podcast Access” with instructions on how to add a podcast’s Premium feeds directly into a podcast app (like Apple Podcasts or Overcast). That email lets you activate your exclusive access to Lever Time Premium and Master Plan Premium.

If you have yet to receive this email, please email us at support@levernews.com, and we will ensure you receive it.

Once you have located that email, go to one of the options under "listen to this private podcast using one of these apps” and follow the steps from there.

It works best if you do this from a mobile device

How do I add premium podcasts to Spotify?

Spotify does not work with our regular premium podcasting system. However, we have developed a workaround that we can provide access to when requested. If you would like to listen to Master Plan Premium in Spotify, please email us at support@levernews.com and we’ll get you set up.

Where Can I Find The RSS Feeds For Master Plan and Lever Time?

If you are NOT a paid subscriber, the RSS feeds for our free public podcasts are as follows:

If you are a paid subscriber, please refer to the entry under the FAQ on this page titled “How does a paying subscriber get full access to premium podcasts, including Master Plan?”
