Turner was a Cleveland City Councilor from 2006 to 2008 and an Ohio State Senator from 2008 until 2014. She then became president of the progressive political action organization Our Revolution, and served as a national co-chair of Bernie Sanders' 2020 campaign. In December, she announced her candidacy in the Ohio's 11th congressional district special election, which will take place on Nov. 2, 2021.
