Katya Schwenk
Katya Schwenk is an investigative journalist covering private interests and corporate power. She joined The Lever as a fellow in September 2023 and has worked as a reporter on the editorial team since January 2024, focusing on enterprise and long-form reporting. Her work at The Lever has spurred congressional probes and been cited in legal proceedings.
Before The Lever, Katya was a staff writer at Phoenix New Times, an alt-weekly in Phoenix, Arizona, where she covered prosecutors, policing, and right-wing politics in the desert; and a reporter for VTDigger, a nonprofit newsroom in Vermont. Her independent reporting has appeared in The Intercept, the American Prospect, Business Insider, The Baffler, Lux Magazine, and elsewhere.
Katya is based in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Vermont and western Massachusetts.
