⚕️ GOP shields insurers’ algorithms. As UnitedHealth Group faces a class-action lawsuit alleging it used artificial intelligence to systematically deny claims, Republicans’ big, beautiful AI preemption could stymie state efforts to regulate algorithmic claim reviews in health care. Colorado has already passed a law preventing insurers from using AI to discriminate against claimants, and other state bills are in the works. If the federal preemption makes it into Republicans’ final budget, these laws could be rendered null for at least 10 years.
