🏦 It's bank failure summer. Days after being confirmed by the Senate, the country’s top banking cop is openly proposing a sprawling regulatory rollback of post-2008 safeguards designed to prevent another financial crisis. In her first remarks as vice chair of supervision at the Federal Reserve last week, Michelle Bowman argued that some of these rules are unnecessary: “Our goal should not be to prevent banks from failing or even eliminate the risk that they will,” she said, “our goal should be to make banks safe to fail.”
