☝️ Exxon wants a word, please. California’s landmark climate emissions law is under attack from the nation’s largest oil company, ExxonMobil. The new legislation, which faced fierce opposition before it passed, requires large companies to fully account for and disclose not only their direct emissions, but also the often overlooked indirect emissions from the consumption of their products. Exxon would be forced to disclose not just the quantity of greenhouse gases associated with procuring and refining oil, but the emissions associated with consumers burning that oil.
